Liverpool Reptile Rescue C.I.C
Our Mission Statement
Liverpool Reptile Rescue evolved in 2013 after it became apparent there was a need for a safe home for unwanted and stray reptiles in the North West of England. Since then, many reptiles have been rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed throughout the country. There are an increasing number of reptiles being kept as pets, often without the correct information being given about their care; resulting in many reptiles suffering through lack of knowledge or neglect.
We offer an advice service by email, our online forums and phone, helping with the welfare and care of all animals.
We are based in Speke, Liverpool, Merseyside and we are one of the few animal rescues dedicated to reptiles. With funding permitting, we plan to expand our facility for animals in order to accommodate more.
We have animals looking for good loving homes.
Donations of unwanted reptile equipment and vivariums are gratefully accepted.
Our shop located in Speke is open to the public. Appointments can be made in our shop, online or on phone for adoptions, rescues and our new Animal Care Clinic.
What animals do we rescue?
We take in all forms of reptiles, inverts and amphibians.
Pease note due to the equipment and space needed we can not take terrapins in. There is lots of rescue groups on facebook and more information on this site.
There is no reptile we will turn away as long as we have the space to house them.
We also now take in small animals such as rabbits, rats and more. Please contact us to find out if you are eligible for our services.
Any reptiles accepted including those which require a DWA license we are working closely with Exo Tech in Birkenhead.
Euthanasia Of Animals
We will never euthanize any animal unless there is a illness that is causing the animal a slow death or extreme pain. If the animal we get in is ill we will do our best to make it better.
Heatmatt Awareness Campaign!
Starting September 2017 we will be starting a Heat Mat campaign to raise awareness of the dangers not just to animals but to peoples homes.
We now stock lintbell health products!
Lintbells has been making premium quality, natural supplements since 2006, when John Davies and John Howie discovered a shared passion: the difference great nutrition can make to pets’ lives. And though we’ve grown a great deal since then, we’re still based near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, and all our products are manufactured in the UK.
Partnered with Exotic Direct
We have now partnered with a reptile insurance company in the hope the keep adoptions costs low. When you adopt now from us you will receive 30 Days free insurance from Exotic Direct.
Please note that due to new legislations Liverpool Council is trying to force us to buy a pet shop licence. As we have stated very clearly on our website and verbally we are not a pet shop we are an Animal Rescue that also sells pet products to help with the running cost of a rescue.
Also due to this new licence we may have to change our adoption fees to one flat fee for all animals, this is still being investigated and hope to know what we are and are not allowed to do as a rescue.
Due to new licensing regulations we no longer offer educational visits. This is due to costs it would take for us to keep on doing our educational visits. For more information please visit https://www.liverpoolreptilerescue.org.uk/blogs/post/No-more-educational-visits
We no longer sell heat mats, this is in connection with https://www.facebook.com/heatmatcampaign/ in replacement of them we will be getting in day lamps, 12W, 15W and other suitable lamps and guards. All our setups will come with lamps and guards. Our gecko setups will now come with 15w day lamps for climbing geckos the lamps will come with heat guards.
